will inform myself here
Don't spend too much time on this (maybe the info doesn't even exist), but since we know already whether an ad is a search/text ad, or a regular display ad, it would be nice to differentiate in our cost calculation, even if we only add a few cents for search ads. But of course we should only do this if there is some evidence on which to base the amount.
Here is a rough approach. Below graphic shows average costs (in AdWords) for Search Ads at $2.32 and Display Ads $0.58, crudely taking the exact average of that (of course there is lots of things that should go into this equation; click through rate, amount of Search Ads vs. Display Ads etc.) gives $1.45 which is close-ish to our $1.58/ad estimation in ADN.
Two suggestions:
is this any useful or do you have suggestion how else to approach differentiating between text and image ads' estimated costs?
i think we will use $1.58 for the moment across the board, and re-visit this question after the launch of 2.4/3.0... thanks
@leoneckert can you come up with a $$$ amount for search engine ads -- I imagine this will be a bit higher than for image ads (which can still change)
