See screenshot attached. I was able to reproduce this in Chrome by:

going to the embedded version of the app in the New Rivers journal https://thenewriver.us/preoccupations/
refreshing the page (not hard refresh)
a hard refresh will correct the condition

to recreate, run the app and soft-refresh? how are you doing the refresh exactly, command-r ?

for me, both command-r and clicking top-left icon for soft-refresh produces the layout problem.

fail to recreate the issue on Chrome Version 105.0.5195.102 (Official Build) (x86_64), MacBook Pro 2018 macOS Catalina 10.15.7 ...

I guess it might have something to do with the white space adjustment (in the image above it seems that the white space is set to max for every line)

update: actually manage to recreate it after few dozen times of refreshing...

the initial white space adjustment fail somehow, but the white space is adjusted correctly when words get replaced, so it gradually become normal...
