Advantages:

  1. Probably the easiest and quickest to setup
  2. Realistic evolution

Disadvantages:

  1. Lots going on apart from the NAO,
  2. No control simulation to remove drift/other sources of variability (e.g. random AMOC variability that has affected us before),
  3. Difficult to evaluate temporal evolution of response.

These experiments have started with barotropic vorticity budget (BVB) diagnostics switched on.
