Why is voice support low priority? #99

Voice chat is one of Discord's primary functions. What is the logic behind deeming it "low priority?"

justjosias commented 3 years ago

Because it requires a lot of effort to do well with less immediate reward.

I thought that cordless already has a branch with vc working... idk though. maybe something worth looking into. if cordless did it, gtkcord prob can too.

Yes, voice support is not impossible, and nobody said it is. In fact, there was an attempt at one before. However, as @justjosias said, voice support requires lots of effort with less reward. Personally, I'm not a heavy voice chat user, so I don't prioritize it nearly as much as other fatal bugs in the application.

Only reason I am even looking into unofficial clients is the officials ones voice chat function can not stream desktop audio when sharing screen. :'(

If primary maintainer doesn't use voice chat there's no point in asking, we're not customers here.

Better make a pull-request ourselves or make friends with the author and bring them into voice chat.
