Agreed. Maybe a button on longpress could pop a two column table of X (3, for
example) preset or last used keyboards (in one column) or dictionary (in other
column).

@raynerape, please explain your suggestion.

My explanation has been hasty and a totally off, so I'll give it another try.
A longpress on a button opens a visual presentation of a lists of all available
dictionaries, with Default being the first option - default is the dictionary
assigned to the keyboard layout. Choosing a dictionary overrides the default to
the
keyboard layout. The dictionary choice is remembered when the user leaves that
keyboard layout to use another keyboard layout, so when he switches back, it
will use
a custom dictionary if such was chosen last time.
My suggestion was that the keyboard layout button and dictionary button I
suggest are
merged. A longpress on that button will open two lists - one for choosing
keyboard
from all avaliable layout and another list for all available dictionaries. In
iPhone
it is presented by two-field rotating lists. Not sure what would be the best UI
control for Android.

I see. Good idea.

Could I add to this? I'd like to be able to have multiple dictionaries at the
same
time for one layout.
being a Canadian and typing frequently in both French and English at the same
time
switching between sentences or even within the same sentence. I'd like for the
dictionary to be able to have both French and English words at once.

I think many of us who speaks multiple languages use one keylayout for multiple
languages, so assigning multiple dictionaries to a keyboard layout would be
very useful.
So of the "Override default dictionary" function, I would make a "Select
dictionary"
function, which is basically the same, but you can select multiple
dictionaries, and the
default is the first as killerkorp suggested.

It seems like this is a required feature (5 stars so far).
I'll probably make it for the next next release.
@dlux.hu, your suggestion seems nice, what do you guys think?

I agree with dlux. A possibility to select one or more dictionaries regardless
of
layouts would be an excellent feature.

I agree with the suggestion for having
One button for keyboard layout and language dictionary choice
I suggest to use the current space of the ' button for this.
and move the ' button to one of the symbols keyboards
combining what others have said above see the example.jpg attached
(not covering the multi language per layout)
For multi language, I guess you can make & offer merged language packs:
eg English&French besides just English standalone and French standalone

Oh dear, Why is the spacebar being made smaller and smaller for this? The space
bar needs to be broader and taller as it is.
