Chamber of bone book #1317

If you click the chamber of bone book, you technically cast a spell = you use mana equal to guardian's cost. There are 4 "special" places in corners but guardian only spawns in one of them. The things above don't make sense, imo 4 guardians should spawn and player's mana shouldn't be affected.

Based on beta versions of Diablo, two things might help explain that:

1) Originally the book gave Nova, and was changed to Guardian right before the game released. 2) Some beta screenshots show a statue in the chamber of boner close to the plates:

chamber of boner

Hmm.

Interesting. The beta versions seem to be different. Perhaps you should consider adding the betas as standalone games in Devilution, as they seem to have interesting game elements. I would love to see the gameplay difference.

By the way, you can download them here: https://diablo-evolution.net/index.php?pageid=files

The mana usage issue was fixed by #5418 🙂

Do we want to change the book that it's spawns 4 guardians (one in each square)? If yes => the issue can stay open If no => close the issue

Personally I would vote for adding it in every corner. Looks better. 🙂

It does feel odd that it spawns in a corner right?

But if you think a bit more about this room, what usually ends up happening is that people will kill almost all enemies in the room before even interacting with the book.

So I think spawning 4 guardians and leaving everything else as-is is honestly a bit pointless...

If it was up to me, I'd probably also move the book closer to the entrance, so that when the player gets into the room, he is encouraged to interact with it and then the guardians would actually help killing all the stuff.
