The license is the legal requirement, the documentation is the social expectation. I see no conflict here.

I guess I read "must" as a legal statement as it is part of the documentation of the software. I think there is a conflict because it's unclear from the phrasing that it's not a legal requirement.
Clearly I'm not a lawyer, I was just very confused by two contradictory statements on what I have to do, feel free to close.
