When I went to the Dd JBrowse it was on the gskA gene (from previous search, I think, where the curated gene in Crick orientation is dark blue. However, the genes up- downstream, all curated, are light blue or light red (e.g. DDB_G0272342, ndm, htt.).
I seems random, also when you look at 3:6301443..6311075:
patB is dark red, but all the curated genes around it are just pale. Also, the 3rd gene upstream, is named cepL, but on JBrowse it says DDB_G0282851 and not the gene name. That lead me to think maybe not always the primary model is chosen. But clicking on the gene model leads to the curated gene in all cases.
It has nothing to do with searches, for the last try I used Chrome and went just to chromosome zooming in.
