[Bug]: Fatal error occurred, #16

Open bkurt78 opened 2 years ago

bkurt78 commented 2 years ago

What happened?

I was trying to rip a fairly new blu ray disc and in the during the process of reading the disc it got to the point of just having mentioned starting java in the process and then the application stops and pops up the error that a Fatal error occurred, program will now exit.

I'm attaching the screen shot of when the error occurred. This is using the 1.16.5 rev 429 version of the snap. Let me know if I should try something else.

What should have happened?

Should have opened the disc without error.

MakeMKV is your one-click solution to convert video that you own into free
and patents-unencumbered format that can be played everywhere. MakeMKV is
a format converter, otherwise called "transcoder". It converts the video
clips from proprietary (and usually encrypted) disc into a set of MKV
files, preserving most information but not changing it in any way. The MKV
format can store multiple video/audio tracks with all meta-information and
preserve chapters. There are many players that can play MKV files nearly
on all platforms, and there are tools to convert MKV files to many
formats, including DVD and Blu-ray discs.

Additionally MakeMKV can instantly stream decrypted video without
intermediate conversion to wide range of players, so you may watch Blu-ray
and DVD discs with your favorite player on your favorite OS or on your
  favorite device.

  - Reads DVD and Blu-ray discs
  - Reads Blu-ray discs protected with latest versions of AACS and BD+
  - Preserves all video and audio tracks, including HD audio
  - Preserves chapters information
  - Preserves all meta-information (track language, audio type)
  - Fast conversion - converts as fast as your drive can read data.
  - No additional software is required for conversion or decryption.
  - Available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux
  - Functionality to open DVD discs is free and will always stay free.
  - All features (including Blu-ray decryption and processing) are free
  during BETA.

Can you try running snap connect makemkv:optical-write and then restart makemkv and try ripping the same disc again?

bkurt78 commented 2 years ago

I tried that and I no longer receive the message about failing to retrieve full access to the drive, but makemkv still errors out at the same spot and otherwise pops up the same message at the same time.

bkurt78 commented 2 years ago

I also tried downgrading to stable just to see if that helped at all but that didn't help matters either. Just thought I would make the note of that.

Is it only one specific disc that you're having trouble with? can you try with a different disc if you haven't already?
