11 years ago Or alternatively, come up with a better solution than the current script. I'll need to look at how other dotfiles repos update their dotfiles. Worth checking out are:
- cowboy/dotfiles (uses symlink)
- mathiasbynens/dotfiles (uses rsync)
- holman/dotfiles (uses symlink, but more complicated than cowboy's)
- https://github.com/startup-class/setup/blob/master/setup.sh (poor man's vagrant + puppet/chef)
Put it in some directory in
$PATHso it can be run from anywhere and give it executable permissions.Maybe add an argument that allows the script to push it automatically. E.g.
update-dotfiles --pushorupdate-dotfiles -p.Also look into having a branch that just contains the script, and another branch that is specific to each user (it will contain their dotfiles).
