Are you using firefox or any non-Webkit browser? if so, this is probably fixed
by enabling the use_socketio option in your server.config

It actually fails with Webkit-based Epiphany on Ubuntu 10.10. Setting socketio
helps.

Regarding the gadget question, I think you would need an installer for that,
but I think it would be better if you asked in the forum or the mailing list,
since that question isn't related to this issue (which I guess was fixed with
the socketio).
Regarding the Epiphany comment...I guess empathy doesn't support the webkit
sockets O_o, I really don't know.
