hurray we're here!
@damg70 not sure DPL fits in the category of tags, but ok. Does this need a code repo, or is it something we can do in the context of pre-existing code? Can you update me at next meeting? Maybe we can figure out draft of fields then.
(here we go, lol)
a tag is a way of quickly finding an object, right? so why can’t we tag a 2do object with it’s project, in this case DPL. is there some mutual exclusivity built into github tags?
it will need a code repo when some code gets written.

@damg70 Ok on tags your explanation the other day made sense. When it gets its own repo we can move the discussion there and just make this the Pacific Literature Database Beta issue with a link to the beta milestone issues in the new repo.
Hello @rcrath and @kuualoha . It looks like Rich is installing Scalar, an academic-leaning content management system designed to be as easy to use as blogging software but powerful enough to structure its information in ways that academics will find useful, consistent and formal. In looking over the requirements for this project, I think that the DPL would make an excellent inaugural project to use Scalar with.
Take a look at the overview here: 4 minute video. 0) The operative metaphor for Scalar projects is the "book," which from the start points the DLP toward a kind of encyclopedic format... 1) It supports the description of objects/items/resources with rich metadata 2) It supports mapping 3) It supports the presentation of various media formats (if you can link to it, Scalar can show it). 4) It supports the rapid development of look and feel, significantly cutting our design time down. 5) It has been designed (well, technically the soon-to-be-released version 2 is) to support tablet and mobile formats.
@kuualoha @damg70 scalar is installed at http://dahi.manoa.hawaii.edu/scalar. Make an account and start a project to test it out. Wwe also now have an Open Journal System install at http://dahi.manoa.hawaii.edu/ojs. If you think that route would be better, look over what it is and let me know if you want to use it and we will set up a journal for you.
Summary a. contributed to by students, professors, etc. b. searchable on the web c. starting this semester
