26% of adults used internet: why does the graph that this links to show up twice?
Many internal links first go to dahi scalar then redirect to USC scalar.

have landing page go right to Intro of "How Social Media" path, delete the other path as it does not do anything.
Intro
see revised version of first note . made a hypertext link to the library catalog record, which will work for people not logged in to UH. The link you put in only works for your current login session, so does not go anywhere. Fix any other notes like this.
"As Merriam-Webster states" get rid of this and use your own definition.
Internet Gains on Television as Public’s Main News Source: make hypertext link out of url as in above
Social Media Usage
left this as image header layout in order to debug.
FIx link in Perrin note.
Blogging
give links for Haim Weinburg and Warner and Neville-Shepard’s journal . Is Warner and Neville-Shephard's piece a jouranl article? If so it is an article, not a journal. To make things snappier, you can delete all the parts that read "so and so said" and just make the link so people can go to it. That will read much better than half-citing them in the text.
"As defined by the Dictionary of American Government and Politics," no need for this. Your audience will all know what a blog is!
"One commonly viewed political channel by the younger generation is political blogs. ": try : "A favorite political channel of the younger generation is the political blog. " And is it? Do you have numbers that break down blogs vs other social media? Let's see...I would guess that it might be more favored by the second youngest cohort, since the social media aspect was not around when they were entering the scene, much like TV stayes popular for older folks in your numbers. What about distinguishing micro-blogging like tumblr, with its social media aspects, from more traditional blogs?
Howard Dean
remove second link to
Dean's Blog. Two links to the same thing on the same page is confusing.
"As said in Daniel Kreiss’ journal" see above for "journal" and "he says"...make link to a permanent version if there is one. You could just delete the whole first clause in the sentence.
"campaign blog" link is confusing, as it sends us back to where we just came from on the path.
Barack Obama
*"“most popular threads of all time,” "Sachs/Mason-Dixon," "go live..." fix links in citations to work.
"Barack Obama is " update to "was" :(
"If the petition garners 100,000 signatures in 30 days," might want to look up why this was upped from 30,000: THere was a successful petition asking Obama to blow up a small planet, please. He said "no." :)
"enact their civil right" = rights. we supposedly have several :)
Fundraising
Links for Edsall and Harris cites
*delete clause beginning with "as said in the journal "A History of the U.S. Political System""
2016 Presidential Election
what are all the green underlines in the first para? If they are supposed to be links they are not working...
"within the last presidential election" and "the 2016 presidential election": remove links to previous page. confusing.
"influence social networking websites:" this is a link to the scalar at USC "works" page!
"wide criticism for" This links to the USC scalar page, as do several other internal links on other pages. go through and check for that please!
Bernie Sanders
love the gif!
Split into two sentences: "Sanders appealed to the beliefs of the biggest generation in the country by focusing on the issues that matter the most to them rather than disregarding them altogether as well as appearing to be genuine. "
Both links go to USC site. THe Sanders "Reddit thread" one goes to a blank page.. You can just delete these links (keep the text though).
Hillary
also a great gif. She thought Trump had just handed her the election when she made that move!
" due to the recent scandal concerning her emails. " which could be the topic of a whole other project. Are there any good sources on this that bring together all the issues? Wikileaks, Russian Hacking, Comey's announcement the last week of the campaign? A link would be really helpful if it was a good one.
"a prevalent candidate" I think you mean relevant, but not sure. Prevalent is the wrong word though.
Trump
"his followers are more likely" make it past tense, since the events are specific to the election.
"which only drives up": Split into new sentence and use past tense
"engagement. His campaign" needs space after period.
Youth Culture
"considerably large part" delete "considerably"
"According to Merriam-Webster, a meme" get rid of the dictionary. Since it is a well known term for your audience, you can define it in your own brief words or skip the definition.
"For example" paragraph...you need to say whether Hillary's emoji post was effective. I thought it was ridiculed if I remember right. THe second sentence seems like it needs to be fleshed out in its own concluding paragraph. Use past tense.
Twitter Fights
"diminishes the formal connotation one has with politicians in general. " and "one seen constantly within the youth" and "when two people of extremely high power that are competing to be the leader of a country are doing it," and "increase favor with them and it is seen as cool." -- all are stilted and need to be worded more clearly and in a slightly snappier style.
Negative Aspects
"It is widely encouraged that users take everything on social media with a grain of salt, " mixes stilted and formal with informal metaphor. How would you speak this idea? write that.
"that pop up as they scroll" -- ambiguous...who or what is "they?"
"users began to suspect" -- I thought it was purposely planted fake news. THere are stories around (in reputable news sources) about kids in Eastern Europe cooking these stories up as clickbait. The wilder the story, the more likely a sucker will click, giving a penny or so to the author, which given exchange rates could rack up a nice income overseas! Look through the archive at Ars Technica for "fake news."
fix cites in last paragraph. make links work and get rid of ALL CAPS
Algorithms
First link is in different size font than subsequent ones.
Fix links in cites.
"that is, they “steer us toward " this is commonly called "the echo chamber" Name it that sooner rather than at the bottom of the page. The bubble part could come up to before this too.
THe first part of this sentence is too long to get to the second part, so reword it more clearly: "Because some posts that might contain opinions that differ from ours are thus moved to the bottom of our feed and content we would generally enjoy remain at the top, our views and thoughts are not being challenged enough. "
Conclusion
Too short, does not conclude anything. Sum it up. What do you want us to take away?
