Is there any way to set different colors for the navbar and sidebar?

Hi, You can add your custom CSS class with .navbar to change the color in nav-bar. For sidebar color options add your custom class with .pmd-sidebar to overwrite default color.

You guys might want to add some examples in the docs for doing this, considering material design is designed around different, bold colours. Maybe create some standard colour palettes already in the css, or different theme files...
