Blender 3.4 Breaks Baking Car Steering and Wheel Rotation #93

Open Nick8712 opened 1 year ago

Nick8712 commented 1 year ago

When using Blender 3.4, baking car steering or wheel rotation does not bake. Attempting to bake causes all keyframes of the rig to be deleted.

i have this problem too ive tried everything i found and none of them work

Mkumar281 commented 1 year ago

im having the same problem, is there any solution ?

Time-II commented 1 year ago

Exact same issue here, I've verified downgrading to Blender 3.3.2 the baking works again, but as of Blender 3.4 and 3.4.1 it no longer works.

Experiencing the same thing. The Blender Console reads "Info: Nothing to bake", and any keyframes for the "Follow Path" Constraint get deleted. Baking in 3.3 is a work around.

So good to hear it's not just me. Working on a car animation and steering and wheel rotation aren't baking. I am having the same issue as @jonareno with it deleting my follow path keyframes. Hope it gets updated for 3.4 soon.

Thank you for your report. Yes, the baking operators are broken in Blender 3.4 because they are based on the core bake action operator in Blender. This latter has been slightly modified in 3.4 and is not backward compatible. I will try to make a patch as soon as possible. I have to test thoroughly to be sure the fix will be OK. In the meantime, a workaround that should work in 3.4 before baking:

How far away is your problem with rig a car 3.4 going to be solved? Both bake windows won't work.

@spoonless Any updates on the fix? Urgently need it :joy:

Hi, you can bake your animation in blender 3.3 or 3.2, then save as a different blend file, after that go back to your 3.4 file and append the action, select your car rig, in action editor, choose the action you just imported, then you are good to go. image image image image

My entire day was fucked off because of this error

I am also experiencing this issue in Blender 3.6. The F-Curve for the Offset Factor of the Follow Path Constraint is being deleted and neither baking the steering nor the wheel rotation is working.
