user experience issues #40

Hi Frank. I've received this message from one of the IRIS users. I have never experienced issue 1) but could you please investigate what could have happened there? As for the issue 2) is is possible to change the 'Volume and Issue' field to not obligatory?

This is what the user said:

Technical problems (28/1/20) When editing my existing IRIS instrument, I couldn't proceed without declaring a volume and issue. At first, I left these fields blank, got to the end, clicked 'Preview and save', it prompted me to enter a journal volume and issue, I clicked edit and it had deleted all my previous entries (i.e., I had to start again!). So basically, the problem is that (1) IRIS doesn't save when an obligatory field is still outstanding, (2) it's problematic to have volume as obligatory, because, for example, 'in press' articles don't have this info yet.

Thanks a lot! Justyna

1) Yes, at present, IRIS is designed to work that way, e.g. IRIS cannot save if any obligatory field is still missing. 2) If 'in press' is selected, volume is NOT obligatory. 3) Regarding the missing data problem while clicking 'Edit' button, I've tested but cannot reproduce the problem. I guess it might be caused by a session time out - did the user idle for a long time on the review page before clicking 'Edit' button?
