That's the thing about working with Travis; there's no other way to test except to make needless commits to your repo. :)

What I typically do is ignore the fact that I get dozens of commits that reflect poorly on me as a programmer to anyone looking at the history, and do a "squash" merge at the very end. That'll combine all commits into one, purposeful commit. You should find that the Merge button above has a little arrow on the side to specify that.
