Loading all items (>1000 items) into Solr Map View

• Map View (Solr based) Repository items, https://menus.digital.utsc.utoronto.ca/collection/2/map
• Issue: Unable to load >500 items into Map because of Query time out from Solr.

How to setup

• Have latest islandora lite isle-dc up
• Create an collection node, then Populate number of objects with coordinate data under that collection node.
• Visit /collection view

Potential solution.

• Using the cluster to reduce the heavy load objects in the Map View. This module can be used for that purpose.
• However, this module is not Drupal 10 ready.

• From this ticket https://www.drupal.org/project/geocluster/issues/3372314, D10 compatibility is under work,
  • Download the module into isle-dc and install the patches.
• From the module's documentation, there may be modification needed for Solr backend.
• Setup the module to accomplish the cluster functionality loading huge number of objects to Map View.

Setup

• Enable all modules above
• Go to Structure > Content Types > Manage Fields > Create New Field, select Geofield
• Go to Structure > Views > Add View
• Change format to GeoJSON export
• Configure your view the same as the following picture, replacing Content: Coordinates with the geofield from earlier
• Image,
• Go to GeoJSON settings, enable geocluster
• For datasource, select Other: Lat/Lon point
• Use Geocluster Lon for Longitude field, repeat with latitude.
• Use title for title.
• Place the Leaflet Geojson Map Block in Structure > Block Layout
• Configure the block, set the layer source as the GeoJSON

Patches

The following patches must be applied:

• Leaflet GeoJSON
  • Patch that replaces the jQuery Once with Drupal Once, adds reset view, and removes wrapping scroll
• Geocluster
  • Patch that adds popup to clusters at a certain zoom level to workaround clusters that cannot decluster
• Views GeoJSON
  • Patch that adds support for longitude & latitude bounding box filtering to optimize performance

Setup (A follow up of the previous instructions)

Enabling Popup

• Go into the GeoJSON Export view
• Add the fields as according to this image
  • Ensure the ID field comes before the View Field
  • The View field should be set like the following image
• The Custom Text field will be our popup
  • Ensure the Identifier field, View field, Geocluster Id field, Geocluster Count field, and Title field come before this Custom Text Field
  • Assign a label to the Custom Text Field and name it "popup"
  • Put the following Twig Script into the Text area

Enabling Bounding Box

• Go into the GeoJSON Export view
• Add a new Contextual Filter
• Find Bounding Box
• Configure the bounding box based on this image and save
• Click Setting next to GeoJSON and check "Enable bbox support"

@HyphenHook is going to look into how to implement the patch https://www.drupal.org/files/issues/2021-07-26/add_group_concat_aggregate-2902481-33.patch to a supportive module because it changed directly in the view in the Drupal core.
