6 years ago Ok surfing now is now fully redone - it is possible to see what domains the user is on now. Reporting is also different and does show complete URLs. Closing this issue.
Her is my honest feedback for version 4.3.0.3DC2.
I like your product but have come to the conclusion the real time monitoring is really worthless as it does not show me the details that are important such as how much bandwidth a connection is currently using. I also do not like the arrangement as it is just a list of connections in the order they arrive. I absolutely understand you can filter, but that is also worthless in the context of meaningful data returned. The only data returned is the domain portion of the connection instead of the entire URL.
If I have a user hogging bandwidth I have no means to know who it is in real time as all I get is a list of connections with duration and size which is really worthless and meaningless. Yeah, it’s fine for a quick look see, but other than that it is meaningless data.
I have also found the reports are equally worthless. I could not produce a comprehensive report for any one user and give that to their supervisor for review and disciplinary actions if needed be. A lot of data that really means nothing in the long run. Example... I select an IP and I want to look at the Hits Hourly to determine what they have been doing on the web. I get Hit Count, Hit % Offensive hits, unproductive hit, size, size %, scan duration, scan time, policies, domains, TLDs which may seem nice, but is of no actual benefit when it comes to a report. What domains did they hit during a certain hour? Etc.
I have to resort to something like Sqstat to see real time monitoring that is of any use, but even then I still have no useful reports to pull to even justify talking to a person for inappropriate surfing habits.
