the jquery.flot.navigate.js includes an old minified version of the mousewheel 
that causes a zooming bug when there is a time-axis involved for chrome 
v18.0.1025.151. 

upgrading mousewheel to the latest version fixed this problem.

This is fixed in the master branch; mousewheel zoom now works under Webkit.
