Skirt and flag outputs a black color?

When I ran the flag and the skirt examples, I got the following images:

I can't seem to know why since I thought color is separate from the physics simulation. Do you know why this might appear? Thanks

It looks black because it's drawing all the vertices. Press "l" to hide them.
