[Feature Request] Read longer tweets on tweetdeck #85

Closed MichalisSak closed 1 year ago

MichalisSak commented 1 year ago

Is it possible to read longer tweets on tweetdeck? Right now it opens those links on twitter. One-click expansion in the feed would be ideal, but isolation of a full expanded tweet like when you click on every tweet would be fine.

I support this request, please, if you can ;-) Also for polls, btw.

Tweets exceeding 280 characters don't display in full in feed, search, list, etc. columns but, I noticed over the last couple/few days that they are now displaying in full when you are viewing a user's tweets from within their profile on Tweetdeck. image

Because User and Search columns are now using new APIs that actually return this data, other columns still use old APIs and don't get this data

There is currently no indication within Old Tweetdeck that more text exists in the tweet, it just cuts off where the Twitter post has 'show more'. Can that be returned somehow? Or another type of indication that the tweet is truncated?

Invicta76 commented 1 year ago

Same issue here, the "Show more" text is gone from tweets.

Whirblewind commented 1 year ago

Bumping to support the return of the "show more" link, assuming it was removed from OTD by choice, as having a sentence just end is harder to parse that a tweet was long-form, especially if the tweet wasn't in English.

dimdenGD commented 1 year ago

API just stopped showing these, I'll see what can be done

dimdenGD commented 1 year ago

I've added "Expand tweet" button that will fetch full text and add it to tweet

Posting in here again as lately I've been having tweets just end abruptly (ellipsis) again instead of show Expand in the Timeline/list (old api) type columns, but not all the time. I haven't pinned a pattern down yet for why it does or doesn't.

User type tweets (new api) seem to be auto-expanded except when quote tweeting, where the Expand button is present in the quote as normal. To my knowledge I haven't changed anything on my end; current OTD/BTD/Chrome. I first noticed this roughly a week ago.
