That's weird since it has a very simple animation
I have noticed the same on Android (Kiwi) Browsing speed suddenly tanked and the overall systems becomes overloaded, which resolves after closing either the "app" or the oldtwitter tab when using Kiwi default mode.
will try to pinpoint the source of this issue.
Been seeing the same issue for quite some time now on Mac M1, but for me it affects not only CPU but also GPU utilization. If I just override the Donate button's animation the CPU/GPU usage drops from 16/25% to 6/1%.
This is the rule for uBlock I'm using:

x.com###donate-button:style(animation: none !important;)
Describe the bug I've noticed that Chromium is using a significant amount of CPU even when switched away. The Chromium task manager shows around 50-75% CPU thread usage on the OldTwitter Home tab. With some probing (aka ublock zapper) I narrowed down the issue to the animation of the "Donate" link.
It's quite strange issue because it's very inconsistent. It consumes CPU even when the tab is not in focus or the browser is minimized. Having more loaded OldTwitter tabs doesn't consume more threads. (Maybe it's because Home gets really big? Refresh doesn't seem to help.)
I think it didn't use to be a problem before, I noticed the problem at Chromium 115 (linux), around two weeks ago.
I'm using the current git version of OldTwitter.
