I came here to say this myself. I'm using this guide:
http://www.faxmelior.info/ingress/IngressGlyphMemorizationGuide.htm
What I really want with Glypher is for it to say a word and make me input it. If I get it wrong, it can tell me what it is, then make me try again. Then repeat for other words.
There should be an option to use the grouping in the page above so that you get all the words for a specific group together.
Taking this a step forward, have training levels For each level:
Group A - Level 1: Ingress Fundamentals Group A - Level 2: Time Group A - Level 3: Metaphysics Group A - Level 4: Factions
Final Group A Test: Glyphs shown randomly, ensure each one is shown once from the previously learnt glyphs, once they have it correct they pass this test.
Group B - Level 5: Battle Group B - Level 6: Civilization + Nature Group B - Level 7: Create / Destroy Group B - Level 8: All
Final Group B Test Final Group A & B Test (Random from both groups)
Group C - Level 9: Yoga Group C - Level 10: One-offs Group C - Level 11: Heartbeat Group C - Level 12: Purity
Final Group C Test Final Group A, B & C Test
Group D - Level 13: Truth vs. Lie Group D - Level 14: Journey and Chaos Group D - Level 15: Improve/Deteriorate Group D - Level 16: Information
Final Group D Test Final Group A, B, C, D Test
Group E - Level 17: Inhale/Exhale Group E - Level 18: Equality Group E - Level 19: Center dots Group E - Level 20: Stability or Safety
Final Group E Test Final Group A, B, C, D, E Test
Group F - Level 21: Moving Forward Group F - Level 22: One-offs #2 Group F - Level 23: More or Less Group F - Level 24: Gain and Lose Group F - Level 25: Problem Solving Group F - Level 26: Aging
Final Group F Test Final Group A, B, C, D, E, F Test
Also if the author of the training guide doesn't mind, then incorporate their descriptions in the training mode when first showing them the group.
Suggest creating a new training mode to help learn the glyph "language". Show complementary pairs of glyphs side by side in order to help learners lock in glyphs and meanings. Examples: Attack & Defend; Create & Destroy; Less & More; Truth & Lie; Gain & Lose; Pure & Impure; Past, Present, & Future; Soul & Mind; Before & After, etc.
