How will workflows be composed?

We need to determine how we can compose workflows. Some prompting questions:

Should we have just one large workflow?
Alternatively should we have many smaller workflows that can be combined into a larger workflow?
Should we consider breaking apart the KBMOD monolith so that we can more easily define smaller workflows?
If we have multiple workflows, how do we organize the workflow definition and configuration files?
