In as much detail as possible, please describe what you would like to see.
I was just chatting to Jia-Hong and he pointed out that editing something is
generally much easier than creating something from scratch. He suggested that
we have 3-4 templates that people can start with and work from there. E.g.
simple quiz, simple socratic method exploration, flashcards, other common
patterns.
Btw, Jia-Hong, did you mean something like this?
https://www.oppia.org/explore/vIHEIcsZl2Z0
Anyway, I was thinking, maybe when the user first lands on the exploration
page, they can pick from one of the common patterns (or 'blank slate'). Then
they get a simple form which they can fill in (e.g. "Main Question", "Expected
Answer", "Misconception 1", "Feedback for Misconception 1", "Misconception 2",
"Feedback for Misconception 2") and this auto-generates a starter exploration
which they can then extend in the normal way.
The difficulty seems to me to be figuring out exactly which starter templates
we should be offering, so I'd like to solicit ideas!
Also, Amy -- maybe this is something that can be usability-tested, since I
think it might make it much easier for people to create new explorations.
However, it's not clear to me what the choices to offer in advance would be.
Perhaps it might help instead to ask users about what sort of scaffolding
they'd expect? Also, I'm not sure if this is enough for you to go on with (as
far as a usability test is concerned); please let me know if you need more
information/scaffolding, and what you think of the idea in general.
Thanks!
