Unlikely that it gets supported, because of limited development resources. The drive is completely different to the VC1541 (different mechanics, different disk layout, different DOS etc.)
What a pity! The 1581 drive if it came out a few years before would have been a huge success, in my opinion.
Probably yes, but in Italy I do not think they have sold many. When we heard about 1581, almost all the boys had gone to the Amiga. The real disk drive of the Commodore64 is 1541, there was also an improved version (II), but I do not really know what if not in the external power supply. @mortinus, where are you from?
France mon ami... here, many bought the 1581 in 1987, it did not cost much, it was the best. While the Amiga arrived at my home in 1989.
Oi todos in Portugal instead we had to wait with the datassette, it cost everything a salary and the Commodore assistance left to be desired, the only solution to prove the thrill of 1581, now, is with the VirtualC64 😆 🤞
hey, but in Portugal was not there the Sinclair Zx Spectrum in those days ? The eternal rival of the C64 with Zilog z80 at 3Mhz with attribute colour clash graph and a little tin tambourine to play sounds...
...never liked the black burning box with key-gums
🤣 🤣 🤣
Hi, we find several images in .D81 format, could you allow us to use them extending support to the commodore 1581 disk drive? Thank you
