Prompting users for a password to proxy servers #16

The last few days I noticed - while accessing the intranet at work - that firefox promts me for my (windows) login data for our company proxy server (which has been set to auto detect in firefox). This only happens

1) the first time I start Firefox 2) and sometimes randomly on some websites

This doesn't happen when

3) the plugin is deactivated.

So is definitely caused by the Disconnect 3.5.0 plugin (I deactivated all plugins one by one to find the one causing it).

The promt window has to be closed, and it reopens 3 times (displaying a total of 4 times). This happens every time I start firefox.

I contacted our network administrator and he said that it is probably caused by the plugin, because it doesn't recognize to windows login data. I have no clue if that is legitimate. When I close the login promts, I can continue to browse the internet. There is no functionalty loss caused by the plugin, it is just annoying as hell. proxy

Bug 436

gnw commented 10 years ago

The Disconnect Search Extension modifies your proxy settings to ensure that the searches are secure, and restores the original proxy settings when done. The restoration of the proxy settings is probably causing the browser to re-prompt you for your password. I found the following info on the internet, and would be curious to know if this helps:
