Storyboard

To me, the name "Storyboard" describes the general feel and appearance of the District. If you guys have any suggestions, feel free to bring them up!

Purpose

A website where users can post, rate, share, buy and sell content in curated categories called Markets, with crowdfunded rewards based on the popularity of posts.

Description

Introduction

Storyboard is a curated social marketplace - a place where content creators can share their content and profit from it, even without directly selling it. Each social market on the site is curated for a type of content, such as art, music or homemade crafts, whether digital or physical. Any original content may be posted on a market. On a monthly basis, a new market will be voted into existence and the rewards will be shared among the content creators and the stakers. This fund comes from the small fee taken from every sale in a Market.

Markets

A Market is a "category" of curated content, where users can view, submit and interact with content. Markets can assign tags to content types, to allow for unique filtering on a per market basis. For example, "physical/digital" in the Art Market, or "rock/metal/electronic/dance etc." in the Music Market. Each stake on the site offers a proportional amount of votes, which can be spread amount different posts in each Market. Voting in one Market does not reduce the amount of votes available in another. These votes determine how the reward is paid out to the content creators in the Market. Each user also has an unlimited amount of "upvotes", and any post can be "upvoted" once per user. These "upvotes" are purely for sorting posts and have no effect on the reward payments.

Posts

A post is a user submitted piece of content on a market, which has been approved. A post on a market can be one of two types of content - digital or physical. A post can also have three possible payment revenues:

How Rewards Work

Whenever a product is sold through the site, a small fee is added. This fee will be used to keep the site running, and to reward the userbase and those who have a stake in the site.

For Content Creators

The reward for content creators is based on how much revenue was generated by the Market. The reward per content creator is calculated as follows: (Reward for market)*(# Of Stake Votes Received)/(Total # Of Votes Received) Both users who submit fixed price content and donation content will be able to receive these rewards.

For Stakers and Moderators

Stakers and Moderators will also receive a reward proportional to the amount of a stake they have. Stakers may not vote for their own content. Bypassing this with extra accounts will result in a ban.

Proposed Initial Markets

Art

A Market for sharing, selling and talking about art - digital or physical.

Crafts

A Market for sharing homemade crafts such as jewelry, clothing, cross stitching etc.

Music

A Market for sharing your musical creations. This market will have a "preview" option, to play a section of a track before purchasing. Other features will include trending, charts and genres to find new music through.

Market Submissions

Stakers may propose new markets to be added, and vote on said markets. After a period of time, voting will close and a new market will be developed and added. Depending on the complexity of the market, this may take some time.

Interesting. So are you wanting to take a curation market approach with this? Nice mock ups BTW!

@mckmuze Yep, discussed this in the slack with you earlier, but just updated the proposal with a detailed explanation. More mockups coming soon too! :)

Love the basic premise of a curated content market - "a place where content creators can share their content and profit from it, even without directly selling it" - this is a really powerful idea.

Mockups are great, keep them coming!

@Splitspace Can you get back to me with a token address please.

Hey @Splitspace

I'm not sure if you're aware but we recently launched a new bounty to migrate your proposals to the actual District Registry: https://registry.district0x.io/

We're replacing the old voting app with the registry. Let me know if you need help but I would love to see you migrate this over so you can claim your DNT.

It does take a 10,000 DNT submit to submit your proposal but this gives you an extra 2000 you can stake in the registry beyond the deposit amount.

Hit me up on Telegram or Discord if you need help or have questions.

PS, please excuse the canned response. I am encouraging everyone here to start migrating so they can claim their 12000 DNT.
