DAO 道 Life

Purpose: The DAO Life district is a provide repository of health solutions to help people live a better quality of life.

Description: ‘An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.’ –Benjamin Franklin. There are many challenges that face the health care market that make public health care problematic. Many patients don’t address small minor health issues until the problem overcomes their daily activities which than require expensive medications or expensive procedures. More often than not, slight aches and pains get ignored and are attributed to over-activity, increasing age, or poor genetics. But people forget that we are the peak of human evolution. We do not have achy knees due to poor genetics. We do not need a softer or harder bed at night to sleep through the night without pain. We do not have to limit our activities because we are getting older. The guy with the poor genes died about 700,000 years ago because he couldn’t hunt properly and not secure a wife to continue their genetic line. We are the end-product of successful breeding and are the best survivors in a long chain of survivors.

What plagues modern man is a generally poor understanding of how the body works by laymen, the hubris of medical professionals who can sometimes disavow centuries of successful treatments in favor of surgery and life-time medication, and the crippling cost of some procedures and treatments which are palliative at best. This results in patients bouncing from one doctor to the next. There are many misconceptions, even among health care professionals, that are considered standards of care but make little impact on their patient’s lives. A second, third, fourth opinion, followed by expensive procedure after procedure results in staggering health care costs that are taken up by the collective. Modern medicine is incredible. But when simple low back pain and tendonitis support billion dollar industries, there is a major problem occurring. Current health care costs, unnecessary/ unsuccessful treatments, increasing medication costs put a very large burden on publicly funded health care systems and the taxpayer. As in the case of the United States, these excessive costs make public health care prohibitive. It doesn’t help when people opt not to seek to address minor problems due to the cost and insist on toughing it out. After years of a decreasingly active lifestyle, the small problem becomes untenable causing years of an unproductive and poor quality of life.

The DAO Life will be the district where people can share their health issues. They can talk about solutions that didn’t work, or even better, lead others to a proper solution or health care professional that was able to help. Posts by the community will give a better understanding of why their health issues get started, how to address them, or how to improve their lives through tips and coping mechanisms. Even if posters don’t have a solution, sharing their story will help in other ways. For example, I was talking to a patient who had made an offhand comment that that he and his spouse had diagnoses that their dogs had. He joked that one dog takes the same medication he does, and his spouse takes a medication that their other dog takes. It sounded like to me that they had their own mini-Cancer cluster. If others can share their VERY ‘general’ location and their diagnoses, perhaps larger clusters can be identified, avoided, and/or attributed to a common cause.

In essence, the DAO Life district will crowdsource their health problems to improve their quality of life via shared experiences.

District0x will be the perfect vehicle for the DAO Life by providing the basic structure as well as future districts with which additional resources can be made available to prospective users. Everyone who joins will be encouraged to provide anonymous details about their lives and health issues but will not be required. There will be many who seek help but opt not to contribute. But feedback will be sought and ultimately determine the success of a post/solution. A curation market model will be used and any post or adjustments to posts will require a fee. This will prevent the flooding of nonsensical posts and random trolling. Only successful posts, stories, or solutions will be rewarded with excess funds generated by curation or by other means.

A reputation system will also be implemented, not only for posters but also for health professionals in general. This will allow people to recommend doctors, massage therapists, personal trainers, etc. and help others find the best care possible.

Thanks! I appreciate your interest. I agree. There must be an easier way to keep people healthy. Education is critical because people have zero clue and send themselves into these deep spirals with huge medical costs. Everyone wins out if we can address these issues correctly. I really think healthcare and blockchain microtasking/rewards are going to be huge. The healthcare industry is getting very interested in blockchain. Keep developing this. I think this will be big going forward.

I think the important thing is that Alternative care doesn't get that much of an option in healthcare. Even if you did get insurance, its only available with plans that have specialist options. These are usually higher tier plans which are expensive with higher premiums.

We can look at denta coin and see what they are doing as an example to what the block chain is doing in response to the health care crisis
