Influencer District – influencer.io

Purpose

As US digital ad spend reaches $82.86 billion in 2017 and 47% of online consumers use ad blockers, advertisers have been turning to influencer marketing in order to successfully reach their target audience. Influencer marketing can be defined as paying an influencer to advertise your product throughout their social media platforms. Through the Influencer District, advertisers will instantly discover their product’s ideal influencer in order to reach their campaign’s target audience. All of this with no platform fee.

Description

As an Influencer – Meet Keanu

Keanu is fresh out of college with a massive social media presence. He has thousands of followers and subscribers across Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube. Although he already has a full-time job as a data analyst, he wants to utilize his social media presence to finance his crypto investments. He could reach out to brands individually and ask to promote their product, but he does not have the available time to do so.

Upon learning about influencer.io, he quickly signs-up for the district in the same manner he did for Ethlance a couple of weeks before. In the district, he provides his log-in information for all of his social media platforms and summarizes his previous influencer work on his profile. Instantly, his profile is made to display his follower count and data pertaining to his follower’s demographics.

As a Brand – Meet Penny Board

Penny Board is a skateboard brand that uses the highest quality raw materials to build awesome skateboards. They have a new line of skateboards scheduled to release this summer and are looking for ways to promote their release. Penny Board could spend their marketing budget on banner ads throughout Facebook (blocked by ad blockers) or they could utilize influencer.io and discover influencers to promote their product across Facebook (not blocked by ad blockers).

Upon signing up for influencer.io as a brand, they are quickly given access to thousands of influencers with various audience reach. The brand begins their search by filtering out influencers who do not match their campaign demographic. They select the age, gender, and location demographic they wish to see in an influencer and instantly find Keanu. After exchanging several messages within influencer.io, Penny Board signs a smart contract with Keanu to promote their new line of skateboards across Keanu’s social media platforms. Once Keanu executes on the agreement, he receives his preferred form of payment and writes a quick review within influence.io about promoting for Penny Board. Penny Board also writes a review about working with Keanu and successfully reaches their campaign’s target audience.

Both parties are happy with how easy the discovery, execution, and payment process was for the product campaign to run successfully.

Interesting idea! Is there some equivalent of this in traditional market with fiat money?

Competitors Expertcity: Can’t find revenue model, nor pricing https://www.experticity.com/

Crewfire: 1 ambassador for $2/month. Very brand focused, but doesn’t reach out to the influencers. https://www.crewfire.com/

BrandAmbassadors: Very janky website with no transparency http://www.brandambassadors.com/city_la.html

Linqia: Great looking website, charges on cost-per-action. Influencer.io right now is designed to charge on a cost-per-post model, but can easily adopt the cost-per-action model. The problem is that it has a 10-day payout period after the completion of the campaign until influencers receive their money. http://www.linqia.com/influencers/

Overall, this platform will introduce crypto to the influencers and help with the adoption of it.

Very cool idea!

Awesome proposal @eduardo-munoz ! This seems like an excellent use case that would leverage the existing Ethlance framework extremely well!

EDIT I have created an interactive mockup of influencer.io. Feel free to interact with it: https://invis.io/2NCIZH77S

I have designed the following pages and added them above:

Nice idea - clear and well written and I like the mock-up screenshots. I think that there could be a market for something like this.

This is a great idea! Uprooted. Crazy how I was thinking about starting the same idea just without District0x. Would love to hear more about this project and be a part of it!

Hi

It is a good idea but big brands don't use influencers with huge budgets. There have been a lot of cases where the influencer made a mistake or said something bad which then were related to the brand with bad results. Another bad thing about influencers who can provide a huge reach to the brands is that they have a global audience. Which makes impossible to segment by location and waste money in people out of the brand target.

Kind regards Sergio

Hi Sergio,

I am aware of both of these factors but with millennial becoming less and less open to the idea of advertisement I truly believe that big companies will begin to use influencers to market to their audience. Rather than segmenting by location I think it is becoming increasingly more effective to segment using other creative methods, such as music, art or even hobbys; this also allows big company to target specific niches relative to their target demographic. A lot of celebrities are seen making mistakes and having bad comments on brands or companies they are a part of, so naturally that's just part of the game.

Like the idea. Agree that big brands are not huge on influencers other than certain markets (hotels are one). I'm married to an "influencer" and one thing you could add are engagement groups which are a small collections of influencers that have organized into pods. A brand could link with an engagement group to run a coordinated marketing campaign. You see these sometimes when a bunch of people are running similar ads or going on outings. Just my $.02

Hey there! We just launched the District Registry. 😎

If you are still working on this project, be sure to submit it to the registry if you want to see it built as one of the next districts.

We will be deprecating the old voting app and Github proposal system now that the registry is live.

If you aren't working on this be sure to stake your DNT into the districts you want to see remain in the Registry. https://registry.district0x.io/

Your staked tokens act as an 'Upvote' within the registry. Similar to any TCR, you will also receive a portion of the challenge rewards if anyone ever challenges the district. So be sure to migrate any tokens you used in the old voting app.

I will be streaming today now that the registry looks stable and people are beginning to stake DNT. We will dive in, answer all your questions and help get you started. Hope to see you later today!

Hey there,

I'm not sure if you're aware but we recently launched a new bounty to migrate your proposals to the actual District Registry: https://registry.district0x.io/

We're replacing the old voting app with the registry. Let me know if you need help but I would love to see you migrate this over so you can claim your DNT.

It does take a 10,000 DNT submit to submit your proposal but this gives you an extra 2000 you can stake in the registry beyond the deposit amount.

Hit me up on Telegram or Discord if you need help or have questions.

Telegram: https://t.me/district0x/75217 Discord: https://discord.gg/P9RQejv

PS, please excuse the canned response. I am encouraging everyone here to start migrating so they can claim their 12000 DNT.
