Purpose: Protect decentralized innovation from patent-trolls and centralized corporations
Description:
Idea district is a district that can be used to protect ideas from being patented and if needed, collectively patent important innovations.
An idea registered within the "idea district", creates a license, that lets the district, token holders, and idea-"backers" work on an idea before possibly submitting a patent.
Licenses could be CC or various schemes that let indie's or non-profits use an idea for free but have a large corporation like apple have to pay if they use it.
Idea district would benefit from the blockchain time-stamping an idea, making it a persistent time record of its inception.
Incentivisation model:
When an idea is first created, it could start as simple as a one-line statement of intent, such as:
One-click-buy
Token holders could back an idea, have designers, lawyers and engineers create a patent application and design document.
Really important ideas could also be patented by the community and have the backing token-holders receive licensing fees. The token holders backing an idea would effectively own the patent together.
Patents could, this way, be tokenized.
If a large corporation is seen infringing on or trying to patent an idea registered in this district, a crowdfunding project could be created that would launch a lawsuit against the infringing entity.
Note:
This is not a fully fleshed out proposal, but I had this idea when I was thinking about ways of protecting ideas, such as UX-flows, from patent-trolls and Apple.
This district-proposal is just a small draft, I would really like help developing this idea.
Suggestions?
