Purpose

Peer learning originally is an educational practice where students teach other students. So that when university resources are stretched and demands upon staff are increasing, it offers students the opportunity to learn from each other. Communities like this one harbor people with all kinds of different talents. Whether it is someone who is good at coding, playing the guitar, photography, or cutting food like a chef. With District0x we can finally enable people to monetize these skills by using the same methods as peer learning, thereby empowering people to improve their lives and do the things they love. We call this learning circles. By decentralizing these learning circles, we will empower the peer2peer learning in a way that there is no need for a middle men taking a cut while not actually adding value to the community.

Description

Learning circles consists of teachers and students. The platform will use the core functionalities of district0x:

Posting and listing

Teachers can offer to teach their skills in the form of a project, a class, a workshop or online coaching for an extended period.

Search and filtering

The beauty about learning circles is that every skill is welcomed. Anyone can be a teacher and everyone can be a student. The different learning circles will be categorized based on category (i.e. business, technology, lifestyle, creative, etc.) and can be filtered on multiple attributes (e.g. ranking, language, type of offering, number of students).

Ranking and reputation

Teachers can be ranked based on the quality of their class, project or workshop. Based on the number of ratings and the grade they will be ranked accordingly inside their category. Moreover, depending on the type of offering (i.e. project, workshop, or class) students will be able to communicate with each other and their teacher inside a seperate community in order to learn from each other and/or offer the teacher the opportunity to optimize the learning experience.

Payments and invoicing

Students will pay the teachers in ether using the same method as Ethlance.

Conclusion

Learning circles offers a way for anyone to learn a certain skill regardless of their skill level or location, whilst enabling anybody with a certain skill to become a teacher and thereby earn extra income, launch their career with doing what they love, and giving something back to the community.

I really find this interesting. The first thing I think about is how valuable this could be in an economy that continues to be more and more dominated by machines. There will need to be multiple income avenues for people like you mentioned above. Upvoted!

Thanks for the feedback! Its aim is to enforce people to deepen the skill they're most passionate about. I can picture the platform first being used by people that are digital natives, hence there being developers who want to monetize their developing skills by teaching newcomers to blockchain how to develop smart contracts using solidity for instance. The possibilities are endless.

Moreover, from the students perspective it offers an opportunity to learn anything they always wanted in a very approachable way from their own homes.
