Purpose:

To link seat fillers directly to organisations that require them cutting out middlemen and professionalizing this industry.

Description:

Whether it is to fill the auditorium of an upcoming TV show or play, or compliment an audience at a conference or speech, there exists a market for "Seat Fillers". This market proposes to connect seat fillers to purchasers via decentralized databases and Ethereum smart contracts. Addition of a Token Curated Registry will allow prospective purchasers and fillers alike to filter out bad actors and promote the services of good actors within these markets. It is envisaged that markets for different types of seat fillers will evolve dependent on the organisations needs and participants reputations, skills and attributes.

So who will be doing the curating in the TCR? Most TCR structures need some solid governance models so the community has some guidance fot curation. Ideally both fillers and event organizers will curate the registry. Initial values would be simple ones such as "Reliable" or "treated well". Use of QR code scanning on entry and exit to the event allows the first to be automatically curated. There may need to be on site oracles/trusted fillers that organize QR code inputting. Bad actors can also be noted by these and organizers and fed back into the registry.

The issue with TCRs is they only work well if the people curating are actually motivated and have the understanding of crypto to participate. This is a gap I think could be filled very soon with well designed dApp browsers and stable coins.

Then it would be as simple as depositing a national currency to submit something. Which can be a thing with ERC20 USD widely available now.

The largest hurdle there is consumers are use to "try before you buy" apps. A TCR introduces a "top up wallet you use slowly over time. This is something I'm trying to figure out best practices for as dApps get more usable.

I think it really boils down to needing to give all new accounts a fiat pegged wallet in a custodial account, so it is still "try before you buy". Along with KYC to prevent sybil attacks and regulatory headaches. As well as a TCR that takes 0x enabled "any token payments" so any token can be deposited to the TCR, regardless of the stable coin held.

That's a fair assessment on the state of play currently with TCRs, wallets and barriers to adoption in general.

I thought this project would be more resistant to a sybil attack as voting would only take place after confirmation of attendance at an event, but I guess people could game up non existent events and fillers and abuse the system via interactions between these.

Interesting thought about "any token payments". Is this to reduce friction and promote engagement?

Anyway, it's probably not a idea for a market that would be high on anyone's list of potential marketplaces, but thought I'd put it out there and see what this proposal thing is all about. I'll not take offence if it doesn't make the cut lol. 😉
