manually annotating the LaTeX source code with variability/options is time-consuming (and error prone)
some options could be put automatically like a size option for each figure
hence we can pre-define transformations/options that the user can consider and explore
another direction is to reuse existing transformations present in some package.
@arnobl suggests https://ctan.org/pkg/savetrees and yes some options/parameters are worth considering
some transformations are too agressive of course, but a subset seems relevant.
