I usually load the fonts for my nodes by installing them via apt and then symlinking them into the node directory. This works fine with the Pi version of info-beamer, but fails when using the open-source version.
I think this is a useful feature and it would be helpful if it were supported consistently on both versions.
Replacing the symlink with a copy of the ttf file is a workaround.
