Using "A Random Card Is Played" Rule can softlocks the game in the Painter fight - P03 in Kaycee's Mod #52

For whatever reason, whenever I try to use this rule it fails to play a card and the game softlocks. The bell can't be pressed and I can't play any more cards, it's just me and The Painter in an endless staring contest
