Add support for plot dataline to be a gradient or have several custom colors

I want my plot dataline to be a gradient or have several custom 
colors, is there a API to support such? (couldn't find so far). 
I am having a graph with a main scatter plot and an additional scatter 
plot that is used as a selection line, trying to have the selection 
line not as a single color but have a gradient/several colors. 
Thought about having several such selection line plots each with the 
required color, but making the plots close/coupled is very hard as i 
return values from doubleForPlot and it is hard to estimate the 
difference between them in pixels.
