The calculated recommend intake is based on the person infromation of the user instead of the list of items. The reason why your recommemd result was different would be you inputted different person information in the beginning which is not shown in this picture.

For recommended calorie daily intake, I follow the UG and set up the list and then use the function to calculate the recommended daily intake but the output doesn't match the one in the UG. I do not know whether this is an functionality bug or I am not supposed to follow the UG to set up the list. If the setup is not needed then it should not be there as it causes confusion.
