Missing Source Code #153

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Extract or browse SVN
2. Note that there are .so and .dll files but no source files.

What is the expected output?
Source files and build scripts that compile into the .so and .dll files.

What do you see instead?
Checked in binaries.

Operating system:
N/A

Error Log:
N/A

I was hoping to write a patch to address the no gnome/kde Linux bug, but
when I extracted the source it seems like there is no way to build or
modify the core.

I'd like the code for this as well so that I can work on scratching some itches
(e.g. managing a ssh -D SOCKS proxy automatically).

This is also a privacy/security concern. What is this code doing?

yes indeed the main issue is about security and privacy.

What the f***, this extension looks open source in the Chrome Store (being
hosted here on Google Code), but actually the people above are right - THERE IS
NO SOURCE CODE!

Also, the author, Mohammad Hejazi (mohammadhi at gmail d0t com), hasn't updated
the extension since September 2010, and it's currently not found when searching
the Chrome web store:

This is a duplicate of http://code.google.com/p/switchy/issues/detail?id=56,
actually. Perhaps it's time to bring this extension to Google's attention - you
can do so at
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/report/caehdcpeofiiigpdhbabniblemipncjj

It's interesting that the author has been doing other Chrome extension work
since he abandoned this one -

Since the author is NOT replying to this question, it's obvious that the
binaries (.dll or .so) can't be trusted. Most probably, it's malware!!!
