Mavic Mini support? #455

Open cuckoohello opened 4 years ago

cuckoohello commented 4 years ago

When will mobile sdk support mavic mini? It's not listed in https://developer.dji.com/products/#!/mobile.

Thank you.

gvuksic commented 4 years ago

the latest new is that the releasing of MSDK 4.13 has been postponed to the end of this monty (July), QA team were testing the package daily, thank you all for the waiting!

can we get beta? as you state on your release page support for Mavic Mini is added, few bugs are pending (which we are not interested in)

CalvinHou commented 4 years ago

can we get an beta version??

I would prefer DJI developers provide us with SDK properly written, profiled and tested. Playing with alpha, beta and other than final versions will only postpone the date valid SDK to be released.

Why would it be postponed? Because we would test it and help them find bugs so it would be more stable when it is released? SDK is late, I bought Mavic Mini to be able to do some development, I wouldn't mind to do some development on beta SDK until they finally finish it. Also they stated Mavic Mini support is added and remaining things to do are fixing bugs affecting other drones (check release notes).

Yep, exactly. Especially if they prepare SDK with releasing final version in mind from the beginning. Including alphas, betas etc. in the dev process should be planned at the desk before starting developing SDK. I believe DJI didn't consider any temporal versions during the development process, thus they will not release beta and they shouldn't even consider this right now :) They probably have proven in battle debugging/profiling approaches, which should be much more reliable, faster and cheaper (money/time wise) then playing with the community. I've also bought my MM with dev in mind and I'll appreciate reliable and working libraries, especially when MM is lacking of almost any sensors.

That3DPrinterGuy commented 4 years ago

DJI is known to only publish finished state products so things like alpha/beta are only done internally, going by their firmware from final build to Q/A to release is on average 10 day's. I'd expect if this date was lost that between the 19th-26th we will see the release of the SDK and the next FW for the Mavic Mini enabling support for the SDK.

muojp commented 4 years ago

AFAIK, PRO developers ($99/yr) have beta SDK access. For BASIC developers: We waited eight months, let's be patient a bit more to wait for them to get things done greatly. DJI developers/QAs are doing really well 🖖.

is this information correct? where can I find info about pro program and sign up for it? thanks in advance!

muojp commented 4 years ago

@gvuksic it's mentioned here: https://developer.dji.com/user/membership/

mitchrsm commented 4 years ago

there's no beta for MSDK 4.13 last beta available for "PRO developers" was 4.9.1

muojp commented 4 years ago

@mitchrsm oh bad. Then, we all wait together for this to happen :cactus:

Niflheim123 commented 4 years ago

I also see here on the roadmap https://developer.dji.com/user/roadmap/#msdk that for mavic mini is Confirmed status and some bugs have Pending status. Maybe this is why it got postponed. We should probably check from time to time to see the status of those bugs and if they change.

Currently, the developing of WSDK has been paused, when we restart the developing, we will support Mini on WSDK.

@Michael-DJI @dji-dev @dji-lisafedane I have a question, Why was way-point support left out of the SDK for the mavic mini? Does anyone have any comments about that, or is it just not ready to be released yet? Out of all the things capable with the SDK, way-points with the mini's extended battery life was going to be really useful and a lot of people are wondering why support for way-points was left out. Thanks.

hey, please check this out: https://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=221255&extra=page%3D1 it's because of firmware not a software issue.

Do you mean 4.13.1? Because 4.13 did not support waypoints. Can you please post the link that you found that info or a screenshot?

peddamat commented 4 years ago

Oops, I did mean 4.13.1.

If you google "Mavic Mini waypoints" you'll find the product that's implemented the feature via the new SDK. I don't want to promote any specific product, as I haven't tried it myself, so won't post the link.

I cant find anything. Whatever currently works has been implemented using the virtual sticks method. The sdk with version 4.13.1 was released 2 days ago and I haven't confirmed that it supports waypoints, but even if it did, it was released 2 days ago so I don't think an app is using it already,

Also I did not ask you to give me the link of a specific app that implemented waypoints. I asked if you have the link of where you saw that this latest version of sdk gives the waypoint ability that was missing.

peddamat commented 4 years ago

I stand corrected. After further investigation, I believe you're correct that the implementation is via virtual sticks. Apologies.

I take that the reason that waypoints isn't supported and might not come is due to the lack of obstacle avoidance sensors?
