yes, that would be a perfect candidate for an appengine project :)

Most MyTracks users I know upload there tracks to http://www.strava.com. After
getting off my bike I "share with friends" and email a GPX file to
upload@strava.com to get it to show up there, and allow me to compare my times
on various segments against my teammates and previous personal bests.
It would be great to simplify that workflow a little bit and have a few more
options under "Share with friends" to send it directly to Strava, or Garmin
Connect, or other web portals.

Dylan, let's consider whether something like this makes sense or not, as this
request is getting common.
For everyone else - I'm afraid we may not be able to comment here while we
discuss.

I'd say that building a real, productionized portal is more than just "large"
(where large would mean a major refactoring in the my tracks app like the
statistics one I did some time ago).

Have a look at Breadcrumbs (www.gobreadcrumbs.com).
Might fit your needs. Just launched and is in heavy development right now.

I was looking at this issue list because I'm working on a site for this kind of
functionality (mibici.mx) using open source software buddypress + a custom
component I'm creating and want to create an exporter for my tracks. By the way
strava functionality looks really good.

Quick update: we are testing internally a preliminary version of the portal and
two-way sync between the mobile app and the portal. We are hoping to launch
sometime in Q1/2011.
Stay tuned!

I've created a site that integrates with your Fusion Tables, pulls your ride
data and generates maps that you can browse and annotate. It is basically just
a hobby project but feel free to try it out and I'd love to get some feedback:
http://johnwilde.us/
Caveats:
* It pulls all your fusion tables. I've only tested with my account, which has
< 30 tables. Don't know what will happen with more, but expect to wait a bit.
Also, if you have tables other than ones created by MyTracks it may not work.
* I've only been working on this site for short time so it doesn't have any
features for searching or comparing your rides yet. It does let you add
public/private notes on the rides. No data is pushed back to your Fusion
Tables.
* This is under development and while I'll try and prevent it, be warned that
any data you enter might be lost in the future!

Did Google give this my tracks web portal to Motorola for use with MOTOACTV?
From this bug report, looks like its a live component and being tested?
https://www.motoactv.com/ click on experience to see the moro portal which is
linked to this new hardware accessory.
Personally I wanted to use it with SE Liveview and My Tracks on my Android
Smartphone.

Lots of questions here but not many answers. The Q1 2011 launch mentioned in
comment 11 is now in the distant past. In the meantime we have an app in the
Android market, called Avocado My Tracks Bridge, that extracts data from My
Tracks and publishes it live on MapMyTracks.com. We are particularly interested
in bicycle power data so if you have an SRM PCS7 you can see your power live.

Still tuned: "Quick update: we are testing internally a preliminary version of

We are now Q1 2012 - Why not just open source what was produced?

It's worth mentioning that http://www.mapmytracks.com supports live tracking
from My Tracks when used in conjunction with another app called Avocado My
Tracks Bridge. There is more on this at

Map My Tracks also has an open API that developers can use to provide more
custom solutions as well.

I think My Tracks would benefit from a simple plug-in framework that vendors
can tap into. I would like to see a simple workflow for sending tracks to

If it helps - it's really easy to send data to Map My Tracks via their email
dropbox. Each user gets a personal email that you send GPX or TCX attachments.
If that's not ideal then the Map My Tracks Android app lets you sync directly
from the app to web service.

We start a project to do that https://bioscada.me/. In our version, we change
Polar driver to delivery RR instead BPM. With RR you can measure HRV stuffs.
