Open djong1 opened 1 year ago

@jhdebruin let's create some time to go over the spotclusters created by @logix

Logiqx commented 1 year ago

Reports are available at https://logiqx.github.io/gp3s-query/spot-clusters/

It is also possible to view the maps on a mobile phone. I installed Google Earth on my Android phone today and was able to open the KML files.

We started working on a solution for this, this is a manual procedure, so will take some time: Countries done:

The script used a CSV provided by @djong1. I can re-run the script if new data is provided.

I've checked the UK spots visually.

I'd suggest that "East Beach - Shoeburyness" to "Shoeburyness - East Beach" but otherwise the 3 duplicates (Trent, Shoeburyness, Christchurch) appear to have been removed fine.

I'm assuming the old sessions and rankings have been updated accordingly but have no real way to check.

I have a question, not urgent or critical at all, regarding a very popular spot in Austria. It is Lake Neusiedl.

This spot unfortunately appears twice in the data base, under the name “Neusiedlersee” and “Neusiedler See”. Only the second way of spelling it is correct (as of today), which means that “Neusiedler See” is correct and “Neusiedlersee” is not (or obsolete).

As far as I can see, both spot names are in use. Some surfers even use one spot name on one day and the other spot name the other day.

The downside of this is that you cannot see and compare the data of other surfers on a particular day, which is a great feature.

Is it possible to delete the spot name with the incorrect spelling (“Neusiedlersee”) or rename it into “Neusiedlersee (obsolete)”?

Furthermore, the spot “Neusiedler See” has not been assigned as being in “Burgenland” and is not defined as being a lake. Is it possible to add this information to the spot entry.
