Closed LodanZark closed 3 years ago

LodanZark commented 4 years ago

I download the cannonball-v03-w32.zip (http://www.massdestruction.co.uk/outrun/), and when I open it, it opens a command shell with follow error: "Error initalizing audio: No available audio device", and as result I have no sound in the application.

Are you still having this issue? If so, I'll provide a test compile from the latest source code which uses SDL2. Let me know.

LodanZark commented 3 years ago

Yes, I just tried again, and I keep having the same issue, where I can find the test build to give it a try?

djyt commented 3 years ago

I'll compile a new one in the coming days. Given that the code has migrated to SDL 2, this may well have solved your issue. But let's see. Do you have problems with any other SDL based games or emulators?

LodanZark commented 3 years ago

I never had issues with SDL emulators, also the cannonball libretro port has no audio issues with my current settings, I have no idea what could cause that bug, hopefully the sdl2 port will do the trick.

djyt commented 3 years ago

Can you try the following version please? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mfXm9F7hWdctkvGPPtnMAclKA-yOUAk5/view?usp=sharing

You may well have the same results... but let's verify that first! :)

LodanZark commented 3 years ago

Great News! The sound it's now working! So far the only audio issues I got was not having a music preview in the music selection screen while having custom music enabled, but I assume that's a WIP feature due to be only available through xml settings and not in-game menu. Also got the "./hiscores_jap.xml: cannot open file" warning on the shell. But aside that, it's running flawlessly, thanks for the hard work!

djyt commented 3 years ago

Good news. Yeah that warning is simply a result of the file getting created when you first play the track. I'll probably remove it from release.

I'm going to rework/improve the custom audio support for release anyway. So I'll re-review how that works.

Bear in mind the release I provided hasn't been through much testing - I just wanted to prove that your old audio issue was at least resolved with the latest build.
