Since your original post, there have been many significant developments. Like you, I also dream of having a local voice assistant. I've been researching Bark and Whisper. Could you provide any additional information or insights on these?

Hi! Sorry I've kind of abandoned this - I've been so busy lately. I did try out google online TTS at the time, and it should be easy to integrate other TTS services along the same lines. Maybe when I have some time off work over the holidays I'll resurrect this project a little bit.
