I have a few questions to help figure this out:
My gmail webinterface is set to English, so I have the English names for the special folders
edit: other Addons I have installed: Enigmail Lightning Mail Redirect Send Later 3 Zindus German and English dictionary
It appears that the German version of Thunderbird breaks the built-in function that tests a server to see if it is a gmail server (it does this by looking for an "/AllMail" entry in the XLIST data). This should be reported to the people that put together the German version of Thunderbird.
I created a new version 0.4.1 that has a workaround for the time being. Let me know if it works for you.
It is working now, thank you!
This is not Thunderbirds fail at all. I had at some time disabled the All Mail folder for IMAP!
I downloaded and installed Thunderbird from www.thunderbird-mail.de and was able to reproduce your problem, so I still think there is a problem with that version of Thunderbird. I just did a test to see if unchecking "Show in IMAP" for All Mail made a difference. It appears that it does not.
Either way though, it is working. : )
Hi dlech, I am experiencing the very same issue with Gmail Buttons 0.4.1, the buttons don't show.
Here some information on my system
OS version: Windows 7 64bit 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601 Thunderbird version: 10.0.2 Addon version: 0.4.1 Mailserver name: imap.googlemail.com Folders have special icons.
For a further description, the Addon's effect in my Thunderbird:
Without Gmail Buttons: http://s3.imgimg.de/uploads/noaddon16e6ed0djpg.jpg -> All normal, Junk and Trash button showing as they should.
With Gmail Buttons freshly installed: http://s3.imgimg.de/uploads/addondefaultef6bb09ajpg.jpg -> Neither Junk nor Trash button showing.
With Gmail Buttons installed, option "Show Delete button for Gmail messages." is marked: http://s3.imgimg.de/uploads/addondeletebutton1c3c0416jpg.jpg -> Junk button not showing, Delete button showing, but with changed behaviour as it seems.
Thanks for your time and efforts!
I may not have made this clear in the instructions, but sometimes, you have to right-click the existing message buttons and select "Customize..." Then you can click and drag to add the Spam and Trash buttons to the toolbar. Give that a try and let me know. I think this occurs if there is already another plugin that has modified this toolbar - in your case, ABP.
I guess that was what I was missing, because somehow the buttons were there but could not be dragged into the toolbar to show. Whatever the reason was, I deactivated ABP's toolbar button and then dragged the buttons - works. Reactivated ABP's toolbar button again, and now it's working perfectly, thanks for the tip! :)
I am having the same issue with Thunderbird 13.0.1. I can see the buttons if I hit customize but as soon as I press OK on the customize buttons dialogue they disappear.
@kaydo: I take it that you are not using the German version of Thunderbird. :) Do you have other addons that use the same toolbar like ABP in the photo links above? Also, if the buttons are disappearing, it could be a problem with identifying your email account as a gmail account.
After using another email client for some time, I now switched back to Thunderbird, and I have the exact same problem. I use the German v.16.0.2 version. I did manually add the buttons, but they disappear when I close the customizing window. The strange thing is:labels are working!
Ich weiss nicht. I downloaded v16.0.2 from www.thunderbird-mail.de and it works for me. If the labels are showing, then this is not the same problem as last time because they use the same function to check for a gmail server. Can you check the error console to see if there are any errors related to gmailbuttons? Extras > Fehlerkonsole
I could find no errors in the log. But after removing the Addon and installing it again it works now. The buttons were in the toolbar without the need to manually add them this time.
I have no idea what happened.
Very strange. Glad it is working.
It is not showing the Buttons for me. Does the Account have to be named in a special manner for this to work? Also I am using Thunderbird in German, maybe that is the issue? I can manually add the Buttons if I customize the toolbar, but they don't show!
