--viewcore and --showcore don't work #142

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I tried --viewcore and --showcore
2. One crashed with a pattern match error
3. One just didn't work somewhere else

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It would be nice if it worked. I'll put down a more complete bug report shortly 
(or fix it), but I'm 
pretty sure its due to the command line flags patch.

I think Issue 146 is the same underlying cause, which is now fixed.
