Sorry for my absence here, I have been very distracted with other things (new job, new languages, master thesis....). Finally I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
I have seen what is new in Moodle, there is a lot of work to do to be on top again, but I will be very happy doing it the european summer.
I think I already made a fix for your problem, there is a closed issue that is very similar, let me find it.

We are in the process of planning our upgrade to Moodle 2.8, and during testing we noticed that the 2.8 feature of static gradebook columns does not work in the Archaius theme. (It can be seen working in the Clean theme.) This makes the student's name in the gradebook 'stick' to the left hand side of the screen, no matter how far to the right you scroll. Do you have any plans to implement this? Or do you know if it can be added in with some custom CSS quite easily? As heavy gradebook users we are keen to make gradebook use as easy as possible for our staff, and this certainly would help.
Also with the Clean theme in Moodle 2.8 is the improved user menu, which provides some of the main profile functions on a menu, instead of having to click through to the profile page itself. Again, do you have any plans to implement this in the future? This is a 'would be nice to have' and is in no way essential.
As ever, thanks for all the work you have put in to Archaius. It continues to be our most favourite theme and one we will stick to for quite some time.
