@dynamic-entropy made me realize that this daemon is very similar to what our loadtests do (at least from its description). I haven't checked this daemon myself. Before that, let me ask @nsmith- and @ericvaandering if somebody has looked into it.
As I recall @nsmith- did look at this way back and decided that what automatix did was NOT what we wanted (or were doing). I stayed far enough from the details that I can't say a lot more.

Better support for loadtests
Possible Solution
Use automatix instead of cms loadtests if it's capable of achieving what we need.
