Installation fails - Githubissues

Dear developers, I would like to ask if this package can be installed in e.g. Conda environments or if it can be used only on cvmfs.

So far I've tried the following:

activate a Python3 conda environment I have
clone this repo
run python setup.py install from the root of the repo -> installs the egg in site-packages but then import dbs does not find the module
run python setup.py install from the Client directory -> does not seem to automatically install the prerequisites, in particular Curl's static library libcurl.a

Can you please tell me what is the correct workflow for the installation? If it is documented somewhere, can you please point me there?

Hi Massimiliano,

DBS is a python2 application. It will not work in python3 environment by default. To install DBS you will need the the deployment scripts from https://github.com/dmwm/deployment.

Are there any plans to migrate this to Python3 as well? From what I've seen trying it out on cvmfs it's a really nice package and it would be super helpful as an interface for many CMS Python(3) based analysis frameworks.
